Case Closed on Arkansas Bird and Fish Deaths

It seems divine plagues have been ruled out as a cause of the recent mass deaths of birds and fish in Arkansas that I blogged about here. The bird incident must have been particularly off-putting for residents, seeing as about 3,000 dead blackbirds littered a 1.5-square-mile residential area. Apparently the neighborhood pets didn’t view it as an inconvenience, though. Said one Arkansas ornithologist: “every dog and cat in the neighborhood that night was able to get a fresh snack.” Thanks for the wonderful image, lady!
